Vienna High School prides itself on high student achievement, a strong sense of community, and active parent involvement. The school serves students in a district that covers over 350 square miles in Johnson, Massac, Union, and Williamson Counties. Students primarily come from Buncombe, Cypress, New Simpson Hill, Vienna, and Dongola Grade Schools.
Vienna is a comprehensive, career-connected early college high school located in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest, surrounded by immersive natural assets managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in deep Southern Illinois. It is nestled between the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, with Interstate 57 and Interstate 24 running through its territory.
The school offers a broad array of career and college-oriented courses that prepare students for their futures. With over 12 career pathways, comprehensive career planning services, and over 150 dual credit college credit hours in its high school master schedule, the school is committed to ensuring its students are Career Connected and Life Ready. Vienna is noted throughout Illinois and the nation as a leader in early college and career readiness.
Vienna also offers 30 student clubs, organizations, and co-curricular opportunities coupled with over 20 sports and activities. These endless opportunities ensure that students in the Vienna community are immersed in meaningful engagement with all areas of life.

The Mission
The mission of Vienna High School is that we strive to graduate active, self-actualized 21st-century citizens who will be caring, career-directed, value-oriented individuals, competent in communications and problem-solving. We further commit to provide our students with the opportunities necessary to develop skills in creative and critical thinking, skills in living and working both independently and cooperatively, as well as knowledge of technology and interdependence in a global and multicultural society. Vienna will strive to inspire students to become positive, lifelong learners.
